Nathaniel Douglas Sutfin

Nathaniel Douglas Sutfin was the brother-in-law of Harriet Deuel Swayze. His wife, Aldula, was Harriet's sister. He served in the Civil War and died on his way home from the hospital. His son, George Sutfin, also served. There are letters from George, but none from Nathaniel. There are numerous letters from Aldula which mention the children.

Taken sick as a consequence of over exertion and exposure in the line of duty in
the battle before Richmond, July 1862. Admitted to Satterlee General Hospital in Philadelphia, Aug 10, 1862. Remained in the hospital until discharged. His brother, George Sutfin, was present at discharge. He was with him when he died, aboard the train at Port Clinton, PA, while on his way home.Additional Information:
